Mhoro Zimbabwe! Our Zim menu is LIVE!
Food is ready! We’ve been cooking in the kitchen and it’s finally time for you to eat well.
March has been quite an interesting month for us at Nourisha, we made some upgrades to our app and launched our Ghanaian menu, and today we’re raising heat as we announce the launch of our Zimbabwean menu!
This menu drop demonstrates our dedication to enabling more Africans in the diaspora to eat healthy and enjoy tasty meals that remind them of their home country. It also shows how far we are willing to go to fulfilling our promise of making it easy for Africans abroad to find quality, affordable, and healthy meals without breaking a sweat.
Now that our kitchen has crossed many borders to achieve this menu expansion, what meals can you enjoy when you order or subscribe to a meal plan?
1. Sadza ne Ma Trotters (Sadza with Trotters)
Sadza ne Ma Trotters is a quintessential Zimbabwean dish that showcases the country’s rich culinary heritage. At its heart is Sadza, a staple food made from finely ground maize meal cooked to a thick, porridge-like consistency. This comforting base is paired with Ma Trotters, or pig trotters, which are simmered until tender and flavorful. The combination of the creamy Sadza and the rich, gelatinous trotters creates a hearty and satisfying meal that is beloved by many Zimbabweans.
2. Mazondo (Cow Feet)
Mazondo, or cow feet, is a popular delicacy in Zimbabwean cuisine known for its tender, gelatinous texture and rich flavour. The feet are cleaned, cooked until soft and tender, and then seasoned with a blend of aromatic spices and herbs. Mazondo can be enjoyed on its own as a main dish or served alongside Sadza or rice for a truly comforting meal experience.
3. Sadza ne Mazondo (Sadza with Cow Feet)
Sadza ne Mazondo combines two Zimbabwean culinary staples – Sadza and Mazondo – to create a hearty and satisfying meal. The creamy Sadza serves as the perfect accompaniment to the tender, flavorful cow feet. This dish is a celebration of Zimbabwean comfort food at its finest, offering a taste of tradition and heritage with every bite.
4. Roadrunner (Hard Chicken)
Roadrunner, or hard chicken, refers to free-range chickens raised in Zimbabwean villages. These chickens have a distinct flavour and texture compared to commercially raised poultry, with leaner meat and a more intense flavour. Roadrunner is often enjoyed grilled, roasted, or stewed, and is a popular choice for special occasions and family gatherings in Zimbabwe.
5. Maguru (Cow Offals)
Maguru, or cow offals, encompasses a variety of organ meats from the cow, including the liver, kidneys, intestines, and tripe. These offal cuts are prized for their rich flavour and tender texture, and are often used in traditional Zimbabwean dishes such as stews, soups, and relishes. Maguru is a favourite among Zimbabweans for its nutritional value and versatility in cooking.
These meals are just a tip of what’s on the entire menu, so whether you’re craving a comforting bowl of Sadza or adventurous enough to try the rich flavors of cow offals, our diverse Zimbabwean cuisine offers something for every palate to enjoy.
